Once, I received an impression from the Holy Spirit: so many people are contesting in ‘pursuing God’ – praying, fasting, studying the word, etc – because they desire to be used by Him. However, only a handful truly build their life to such an extent because they desire their life to be pleasing before God’s heart!
1. Our heart inclination has a vital role in building a life that is pleasing before God’s heart.
When someone pursues God because they want to be used by Him, there are all kinds of motivation that could move their life. However, it’s different when someone pursues God because they desire to have a life that is pleasing before His heart. The only motivation that moves them is the heart that loves Him!
Not everyone (only the elect) owns a heart that pursues and inclines towards God’s favor. Only those who truly love Him with all their heart, soul and strength have such a heart!
2. God is reviving a people worthy of Him
Luke 1:16-17 (NASB) And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God. It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, SO AS TO MAKE READY A PEOPLE PREPARED FOR THE LORD.
I believe that these days, God’s word and Spirit keeps on working in churches to transform the heart inclination of His people. Their heart will shift from wanting to be used by Him to pursuing God with full passionate love because they want to make glad His heart!
And God could use anyone He wants to use. He could use Samson who associates with harlots in his daily life; God could also use Gideon whose life is filled with fear, carrying this world’s pattern; He could also use Pharaoh; He could even use a donkey to rebuke a prophet! He could use anyone and anything to accomplish His agenda! However, He is seeking for those who want to build a life that pleases His heart out of their love towards Him!
Truly, the ‘command’ He gave to the Israelites wasn’t difficult: to love Him with all their heart, soul and strength.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NASB) You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Unfortunately, Israel preferred to worship foreign gods. In the end, God must ‘look for another people’ who wants to love Him: the Church!
Now, as His people, let’s build our daily life to please His heart. However, make sure that we do so because we love Him!
If our life is pleasing before His heart, He will automatically guard, equip, and guide our lives. Whatever we do in obedience towards His directions, God will surely prosper! #iLoveGod
