Thinking about the things of the Spirit will make us grow in the knowledge of the Father in heaven (Romans 8:13-16, 1 Corinthians 2:10). The Spirit will lead us to understand the mind of the heavenly Father about our true identity. This is what the Spirit will reveal to us! Unconsciously, we often think: the Father in heaven often sees us negatively. So we tend to ‘play safe’ before Him. In short, we are afraid to make mistake! Because we think that the Father will punish us for our mistakes, will not talk to us and will step away from us. Honestly, we still have a hard time to think that He is A GOOD FATHER.
That kind of thought really affect the way we see our lives, especially when we are evaluating ourselves. We tend to find mistakes, errors, flaws and shortcomings. Nothing is wrong by evaluating ourselves to become a better person. However, we often forget ‘millions’ of goodness and progress that the Father has done for us. And we forget His great and amazing promises! Yet it is God’s mind for us that can deliver us into a victorious life and always experience progress.
Many factors make it difficult for us to have the knowledge of God as a good Father. But whatever the reason, the Holy Spirit will always help and guide us to see Him as a good Father. The Spirit will teach us not to be “insolent and arbitrary”. Because at the same time, He is also the King of kings, and He never compromises sin.
This morning the Spirit directs me to keep declaring all His promises over my life, until I feel a significant emotional change and accept it as the mind of the Father toward me. The Spirit emphasises: Do not always think of your shortcomings, as the Father is thinking all the goodness in you. He is always enthusiastic about all the words that He has planted in you. He always thinks of your glorious future. And as Father, He will deliver you into His promises.
When the Spirit said those things, I saw in the spirit that the heavenly Father jumped with enthusiasm and He was full of joy thinking of me. Somehow I could feel His enthusiasm that begin to influence me. I am sure now that His plan will never fail in my life! Despite my shortcomings, these things cannot hinder His plan over my life. Even though I do not believe, but His word will never fail! It will happen! For He is the Father who never breaks His promises!
My prayer this morning: Holy Spirit, please help me, reveal the knowledge of the heavenly Father. Make me think of His positive thoughts about me. Make me think of His promises over my life. I believe it is what is meant by thinking the things of the Spirit. The Spirit is ‘in charge’ to reveal His eternal plan/mind/heart to us. And all of it contains good things! Think about it!
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Let it be done unto me! In the name of Jesus! Amin…!
