This is the continuation of yesterday’s message.

2. God will bring us to live in the reality of our true identity in Christ.

Truly, long before this world exists, the Father has planned the journey of our life; He has determined our true identity in Christ; He has set the domains of our work and our level of involvement in extending His kingdom on this earth (Ps 139:16, Eph 1:4-6, 2:10).

In short, in the all-knowingness and the sovereignty of His power, the Father has planned and determined the days of our life – from before we were born until the end of our life (Ps 139:13-18). However, at the same time, He also gives us the freedom to choose (free will). And although we often make mistakes in life, through His Holy Spirit, God keeps carrying us to return to His ways of righteousness (Ps 139:23-24, Eph 1:13-14, John14:15-18, 16:13).

So, in other words, our daily life right now is the product of our decision-making – including the ones aligned to His word and the ones that are not. That’s why, after our new birth as New Creations, Paul emphasized that we must quickly focus on dismantling the life pattern that we’ve lived in so far – because all of them is the result of this world’s molding (Rom 12:1-2).

The early church devoted themselves in the teachings (doctrine/life pattern) of the apostles. Through it, they rebuild their ways of life – because whether we realize or not, many believers still walk according to the ways (pattern) of this world. The early church members lived a new life by following the life pattern of the apostles (who followed the life pattern of Christ). That’s why believers in the days of the apostles were called as Followers of the Way (before they are called as Christians or followers of Christ – Acts 2:42, 9:2, 11:26).

Paul further emphasized that every believer must live based on what they believe in (Rom 1:17, 12:3, Gal 2:20). However, what they believe must be sourced from the word of God alone (Rom 10:8-11, 17). Apostle John emphasized that when someone receives the word, they are actually receiving the revelation of their true/original identity in Christ.

John 1:12 (NKJV) But as many as RECEIVED Him [receiving the Word of Life, receiving access to interact with Him], to them He gave the right TO BECOME children of God, to those who believe in His name

The enemy tries to chain believers to keep living in fear, anxiety, inferiority complex, guilt, and unworthiness. It aims to corrupt the true identity of the believer, so they will find it hard to receive the word from Holy Spirit which reveals who they truly are in Christ! Meanwhile, without receiving the revelation of our true identity in Christ and living in it, we will stay brittle, weak, and problematic. It’ll be easy for the Devil to deceive us, and we’ll never enjoy the working power of grace which will enable us to function maximally for the kingdom of Heaven.

Starting from this day, every time you receive His word and promises, see that word/promise as your new self in Him! Start to imagine it, declare it, pray it, and prophesy it into yourself until you feel the fire of enthusiasm and passion in your inner man. The fire of enthusiasm and passion you feel within is the product of Holy Spirit’s work in dismantling your false identity that you have believed/lived in for so long. By ‘seeing Him’ continuously, you receive His word. And by receiving the word, you will be continuously transformed into His likeness (1 John 3:2).

When God first encountered Gideon, he was a coward indeed – that’s his identity, the product of his environment’s shaping. However, since the first encounter, God Himself has called Gideon a “valiant warrior” – that’s Gideon new and true identity in Christ (Judges 6:12)! #iLoveGod
