This is the continuation of yesterday’s message.
4. God will keep training our level of obedience.
I find that the most time-consuming process of life-transformation is in the aspect of obedience.
God wants us to obey His word joyfully, promptly (without delay), and wholeheartedly. The problem is, this demands the death of flesh in the first place – no more love of self, love of this world, or the love of money! We are being trained to once again live in explicit obedience towards every direction of God’s word and Spirit in our daily life. And here, we will find that a healthy and living relationship with God is a highly determining factor.
A ‘direct communication line’ with God should be built in our life. Because every time we receive a direction which demands immediate obedience, we could feel various hindrances to obey promptly, joyfully, and wholeheartedly. When that happens, we could immediately communicate our difficulties to the Holy Spirit; for He is the helper sent by the Father for this season of training. Holy Spirit will act quickly, bringing us to face the throne of grace. There, we could receive every drop of grace we need to manifest an obedient life. We could obey joyfully, quickly, and wholeheartedly!
God wants this aspect of obedience to be built as a nature in our lives. Because the nature of the fallen man is to seek his own ways which he thinks is the fastest and most convenient. That’s why man tend to steer clear of God’s way which demands the denial of self and crucifixion of the flesh. The Devil keeps sowing this worldly pattern in the lives of all people on earth – including believers!
When God dismantles the pattern of this world from believers’ lives, He will specifically implant the nature of obedience! This nature will cause our daily life to be completely dependent on God and His word. It will condition every believer to always experience God’s guidance – we are distinguished, favored, and made to prosper in everything we do (Jer 17:7-8, Mal 3:17-18)!
This is one of the reasons why someone could become ‘disobedient’ to God’s direction/command. They are being ‘overcome by certain fears’ which come from the enemy’s seeds which have successfully ruled their mind/imagination. The believer is in a condition of ‘believing more’ in the enemy’s deception in their mind rather on the word that is coming to him.
Essentially, the word is aimed to set the believer free from all the enemy’s deception that is working in his life. If the believer wants to learn to entrust his life in God’s hand, although being the state of fear, he will try to walk in obedience to His word. And however small the step of obedience is, the believer will come closer to the breakthrough that God has prepared!
When the command to cut down the altar of idols came to Gideon, he was fearful to do it during the day. However, Gideon still did it during the night(Judges 6:25-27). Gideon’s step of obedience, regardless of all the limitations he was in, conditioned him to experience greater breakthroughs in his life. Now, even Gideon’s father (who worshipped the idol that he cut) turned to defend Gideon (Judges 6:31). Gideon is now ready to obey God’s next direction: to blow the trumpet and gather the troops to deliver Israel from the oppression of the Midianites (Judges 6:34-35). #iLoveGod
