Philippians 4:8-9 (TLB)
And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.
God has prepared a world that is free from tears and sorrow; free from turmoil and uncertainty; a world of peace, free from discontentment. Know that He is the One who owns the unshakable kingdom, and the good news is, God has prepared that world for us!
Oftentimes, this is why we could still feel all kinds of negative emotions, chaos, and uncertainty in life: because we LEAVE God’s world, which supposedly becomes our HABITAT.
A question arises in my heart: how can a person leave God’s world, and how could we enter and live in His world?
When I pray while meditating on Philippians 4:8, I saw a kind of pool in the midst of a hot and dry environment during broad daylight. Then, I received an understanding that the pool represents a “different world” compared to the world around it. When someone plunges into the pool, it’s like suddenly entering a different world altogether. Outside the pool, it feels hot and dry, but in the pool, it’s cool, wet, and refreshing. The way we move is also different; on land people walk, but in water we can float, and we must learn to swim so we could move forward and not drown.
I received an understanding: the same goes for God’s world! Right now, we can CHOOSE to live in God’s world or in the natural. The place IS THERE, we just need to enter!
What we firstly need is a DECISION. We must decide to plunge ourselves, taking a step to enter God’s world.
Secondly, we need the discipline to build A NEW LIFESTYLE to live in God’s world. Our daily lifestyle must revolve around seeking God, devoting ourselves in the apostles’ teaching, praying aggressively, persevering in reading and declaring the word, and worshipping!
Many people ‘cannot stand’ to build this kind of lifestyle, and want to quickly ‘exit’ and return to their old habitat, because it feels ‘more comfortable’ to be out there. However, all decision has their consequences. When someone leaves God’s world, they will once again feel the dryness, emptiness, and heat of life. That’s why tears, sorrow, and negative emotions return.
We truly need both DECISION and DISCIPLINE (DETERMINATION and PERSEVERANCE) to build this divine lifestyle. It doesn’t mean we lock ourselves in our room and keep praying and worshipping God – that’s not the way. It’s true that we need discipline in our devotion time – we must set aside a special time for God. However, we still need to work and carry out our daily activities.
In living our everyday life, we’ll surely interact with all kinds of people and situations which could be unpleasant and irritating – they could provoke our emotion, hurt us and make our life ‘leak’. That’s the moment we need to quickly fix our heart and clean it in the flow of the river of life. We can be healed once again by entering God’s world. In His world, He searches our heart, cleaning and cutting the roots of humanity and flesh. In God’s world, we can become a wholesome and divine person. #ILoveGod
