I find that our MIND is one of the most important keys to enter God’s world! A mindset on the things of the flesh will make us enter a natural and humanistic world. But a mindset on the things of the Spirit will make us live in His world!
Romans 8:5 (NKJV)
For those who live according to the flesh SET THEIR MINDS on the things of the flesh, but those [who live] according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Those who “set [CONFIGURE] their minds” on the things of the Spirit will live according to the ways of the Spirit. And the simplest way to set our minds is by thinking about positive things, as written in Philippians 4:8.
Philippians 4:8-9 (TLB)
And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: FIX your thoughts on what is true and good and right. THINK about things that are pure and lovely, and DWELL on the fine, good things in others. THINK about ALL you can praise God for and be glad about. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.
In the Amplified Version of the Bible, it’s written:
“If there is any virtue and excellence. If there is anything worthy of praise, THINK ON and WEIGH and TAKE ACCOUNT of these things (fix your minds on them)”
Sometimes, our mind can wander around so easily. Sometimes we daydream, thinking about random things. Or sometimes, we think about life problems and burdens which seems endless. Sometimes we feel pulled by selfish desires, or sometimes we are busy thinking about gossips, offence, anger, unjust treatments, and other negative things. The days we fix our minds on those things must be over!
1. Fix our mind on things that are righteous, and dwell on positive and constructive things.
Don’t focus on the negative things in others (and also ourselves). Remember about things which could make us stay joyful and thankful.
2. It’s time for us to TRAIN our mind to GIVE WEIGHT to God’s word, and to our spiritual father’s teaching, reprimand, and words.
Don’t take them lightly! Truly, by giving weight to God’s word, we will stay within God’s world! I find that an untrained mind – which often flies around and easily dragged by the currents of this world – must be given a weight (God’s word) so it could stay ‘drowned’ in God’s world. This is the way for us to stay surrounded by the awareness of His reality.
When we give weight to the words of our spiritual father, we will tend to think about it, and we will surely feel driven to walk in their steps. That’s the moment God will add new understandings to strengthen our insight. As a result, the God of peace will be with us; He pulls us into His world!
Philippians 4:9 (AMP)
PRACTICE what you have LEARNED and RECEIVED, and HEARD and SEEN IN ME, and MODEL your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.
