Acts 2:42 (NASB) They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
2 Timothy 3:10 (NASB) Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance
John 5:19 (NASB) Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
John 12:49-50 (NASB) For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”
1 Timothy 4:16 (NASB) Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
From the above verses, I found the responsibilities of a spiritual son:
1. Devote themselves in learning every teaching of their spiritual father
Reading again every sermon notes, listening back to every preaching, and persevere in doing every ways of life being taught. These are some responsibilities of a spiritual son.
This is the life process that must not stop in our lives. Devoting ourselves in the apostles’ teaching will guard our mind and heart from the various worldly frequencies that are trying to pull us out from God’s plan and agenda.
Without rooting ourselves in a true teaching (godly way of life), our lives will be brittle and easily shaken. Meanwhile, God wants our spiritual life to grow significantly by the day. He wants us to bear lush fruits, becoming stronger, healthier, mightier, and full of glory from day to day! The only way to experience all that is to devote ourselves in the apostles’ teaching!
2. Observe and adopt our spiritual father’s life that is willing to die, to believe God even when it doesn’t make sense, and willing to let go of everything for Him
If we do so, we will be willing to leave all our old mindset, heart attitude, and convictions. Then, we could fully take example of our spiritual father’s teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance. When we fully adopt their life, we will produce the same kind of life! We are as all-out in pursuing after God and in doing His will!
3. A spiritual son will only speak from what they have listened and lived from their spiritual father’s words!
I make the decision to deliver the word to the multitudes only according to what my spiritual father delivers! No more and no less! I also decide to live the word first!
So far, many spiritual sons want to ‘improvise’ by delivering the word according to the ‘revelation’ they personally received! Receiving a word revelation is not something wrong, of course, for it’s our spiritual wealth! But to be delivered to the multitudes, a spiritual son must make sure that what they deliver is according to what they have heard from the spiritual father. The spiritual frequency being released must be the same!
Such is the self-discipline a son must do! That’s the way a son guards over themselves and over their teaching! This is also the principle of truth that Jesus practiced – He only do what He sees and speaks what He hears from the Father in heaven!
I believe, if we do what’s discussed above, our hearts will always flow life. We will walk in godly ways, His will and His plans everyday. Our life will become brighter and brighter, lifted by our Father in heaven to become an example for many people (Prov 4:18)! #iLoveGod
