During one of the 2nd day retreat sessions, there is a word that spoke strongly about David. Holy Spirit gave me some understandingas follow:
David is someone who loves God with his whole heart. David’s love is without doubt – it brings out a very intimate expression in his worship and lifestyle that pleases God’s heart. David even has special times to fellowship with God; in the morning (Ps 5:3), evening (Ps 141:2), and night (Ps 1:2). Such an exemplary and a very righteous lifestyle!
Following David’s lifestyle will guide us in accuracy. Our life will become more and more effective in finishing the agenda of the Kingdom of Heaven!
However, there is one moment in David’s life when he “momentarily left” his divine lifestyle to “enjoy the facility and authority as a king”. He substituted his prayer in the evening to relax on the roof. As a result, his body turned into a weapon of iniquity, sleepingwith Bathsheba and killing her husband.
Uria was trapped by David’s plan and died on the battlefield. One of David’s best man died because David “allowed compromise” to enter his heart and leave his goldy lifestyle!
1. BEWARE OF ALL THE GIVEN FACILITIES, COMFORT, CONVENIENCE, BLESSINGS, RESPECT AND POSITION
If we become careless, our heart will start to ‘enjoy’ these things, and will no longer be fixed towards God. As a result, we lose the best and the most essence; God Himself! If we lose God’s reality, our life will become empty!
Once our life starts to become empty, worldly spirits will find space to enter and mold us according to their will. In the end, we willdo things that are contrary to the truth! Therefore, it is very important for us to maintain the godly lifestyle that has been built!
2. OBSERVE SERIOUSLY, AND QUICKLY DEAL WITH OURSELVES WHEN WE START TO LEAVE THE GODLY LIFESTYLE
Stop thinking that it is normal or “it will be momentary” or “its just once in a while”. Remember: there is no rest in war (Ecclesiastes 8:8b).
Leaving prayer hours is a wrong decision! It is highly fatal! The more God lifts us up, the easier it will be for small carelessness to cause prolonged negative effects.
Praise the Lord, David quickly repented when God rebuked him! However, we don’t need to take David’s example! It is needless for us to grief and become broken first due to our inaccuracies. Because He wants us to enjoy the Kingdom of Heaven (truth, peace and joy) every day and every time!
3. KEEP BUILDING DURING TIMES OF PEACE
If David decided to not participate in the kings’ war, he could at least pray for his troops who are in battle. David could live from the example of Samuel, his spiritual father. As a leader and priest of Israel in the past, Samuel didn’t go to war, but he prayed for Israel troops that are fighting. And Samuel’s prayers resulted in Israel’s victory by God’s own strength!
David should’ve followed Samuel’s example. However, it’s very unfortunate that David used his prayer time to relax. He saw the bathing Bathsheba, and finally fell in sin!
Once again, we don’t need to follow David’s example in that aspect! Always build our spirit man through divine lifestyle in all situations, especially during times of peace! For truly, that’s the best time to build, train, and prepare before facing a great fight. In the end, we could maintain our God-given victory!
Strengthen your heart and complete your determination in maintaining the godly lifestyle, and to bring it to the next level! Such is the heart attitude that will make us increasingly accurate and pleasing before God! #iLoveGod
