Hebrew 11:6 (TLB)
You can never please God without faith, without depending on him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him.
Christian life becomes more complex because there are too many ‘methods’ to please God. Actually God only wants us to BELIEVE/HAVE FAITH in Him. It sounds ‘easy’, but in reality it is very difficult to implement.
And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? 8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
When we have to face negative facts in life, our joy can easily disappeared along with the fading of our faith in God. And when the negative facts do not change over time, we begin to question ‘God’s existence’.
Is He there? Does He want to help? Does He see? And does He care? Our relationship with God becomes distant and we begin to lose hope.
Habakkuk also experienced a disappointing condition in his life (Habakkuk 3:17-19). However, he responded divinely. He still rejoiced, had a cheerful heart and glorified God.
Unlike other people in general, they complained, feel sad and filled with other negative emotions when they have to face a bad condition. How could Habakkuk act that way?
Habakkuk 2:4 (TLB)
“Note this: Wicked men trust themselves alone as these Chaldeans do, and fail; but the righteous man trusts in me and lives!”
Habakkuk received an understanding from God that as a righteous, his life and emotions are not controlled by facts, but by FAITH (look at and focus on the word that He gave him).
Unlike unbelievers, they believe in their own strength. They do all things that are not pleasing to God just to change their situations and conditions.
