When we bear fruit 30-fold – becoming a person who is willing to die, to believe God even when it doesn’t make sense, and willing to let go of everything for Him – then His Spirit will lead us to become an influential person in our community. He will give us directions for our steps of preparation. Our part is only to obey.
To become an influential person, we don’t always have to become a leader or someone who is in the spotlight. Holy Spirit will specifically reveal our role in a community. He will keep sharpening a certain uniqueness in our life which will make us contribute positively to the community. God will do this even more in a local church. Because whether we like it or not, God will move through His body that has been built accurately according to the heavenly pattern.
1. Our part may only be like the Jewish girl who were taken captive in Aram, becoming the servant of Naaman’s wife (2 Kings 5:1-4)
The servant girl revealed Elisha’s existence as the prophet over Israel who could heal Naaman. The girl connected a prominent person in a nation to Elisha!
If that is our part – a connecter between an influential person and God’s house – then we shall do it as best as we could. Be the best servant wherever God places us in. Follow the preparation steps of the Holy Spirit to become a distinguished servant!
2. We may become like Caleb who played his role in supporting Joshua, God’s chosen leader after Moses to lead Israel into Canaan
Caleb doesn’t ask, “Why not me?” He also doesn’t feel rivaled, moreover rejected. He understands that God is sovereign in lifting and lowering leaders in all domains!
In essence, play our part as best as we could. Be the best supporter for our spiritual brothers and sisters!
3. We may only play a role similar to Hanna (1 Sam 1:24-28), Lois or Eunice (2 Tim 1:5)
They imparted the life of faith and obedience towards a spiritual father. This role will enable our children and grandchildren to function in ministry and submit themselves fully to finish God’s will.
Without Hanna’s role, Samuel will easily fall into the degenerated life of Priest Eli’s sons.
Without Lois’ and Eunice’s role, Timothy will never have a foundation of faith that is strong enough for Paul to take him as his spiritual child.
4. Maybe we will only become like the child who offered his lunch menu to Jesus
With the child’s lunch, Jesus fed thousands (John 6:1-13). We may not have much, but we fully give and dedicate them to God when needed!
Maybe right now you don’t have money, but you have life, energy, intellect, creativity, etc. Whatever you have, dedicate them to God. Therefore, through what we ‘give’, God could multiply it to become a blessing for many people who need it.
5. We may only become an ordinary church member
Then, be the best member who gives a strong contribution and key support when the church is building in the spirit during meetings and prayers.
Prepare ourselves to the very best in our daily life, just like a preacher of the word would. Keep building the discipline to build our spirit man. Therefore, we could easily receive God’s word in whatever frequency He is talking in. And we could release God’s word through our prayers, declarations, and expression of worship.
I believe, whatever our role is, we better do it as best at we could, and do it joyfully.
Holy Spirit will keep guiding, instructing, and giving us the strength to play our part to the very best! #iLoveGod
