This is the continuation of yesterday’s message…

2. Persevere ini building a relationship with Him through prayer and worship every day

The world is getting busier, and it will keep trying to distract us from fellowshipping with Him.

Oftentimes, we’re made to feel that we don’t have time, and our routine is much more important than building our relationship with Him. While truly, the Father has prepared everything for us – He has prepared the good part as our portion! But if we become distracted by our busyness and carelessness, we won’t reach our provided portion (Luke 10:38-42).

Luke 10 : 39 & 42 (NASB)

(39) She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word.

(42) but only one thing is necessary, for Mary HAS CHOSEN the GOOD part, which SHALL NOT BE TAKEN AWAY FROM HER. “

For so long, we think that we will have the good part by working hard and being ambitious to pursue our desires. While we could reach what we pursue, it is actually not the good part!

The good part has been prepared ESPECIALLY for us. Even God says that it SHALL NOT BE TAKEN AWAY FROM US! It is truly OUR PORTION. However, just like Mary, we are the ones who must learn to CHOOSE.

So, take your decision to spend time “seated at the Lord’s feet.” Taken from the Greek word “pous,” it illustrates a disciple who is LISTENING to his master’s INSTRUCTION.

I realize more and more about this. Those who let themselves to be controlled by the desires sown by the enemy, are actually “seated at someone’s feet,” just like a disciple listening to his teacher (because they’re also listening to the “instructions” crossing their mind). Ironically, their teacher is SIN and THE DEVIL! It’s no wonder that the enemy’s work keep going in their lives.

It’s better for us to choose being seated at God’s feet rather than the Devil’s.

3. Persevering in grinding the word into our lives through declaration will form the mind of Christ

One of the result of the mind of Christ being formed is DIVINE LOVE. We will become FULL OF LOVE. This will urge us to move away from all worldly desires. We will stop “trying with our own strength to manifest love.” Now divine love will naturally flow from us because our minds have been renewed. His divine nature starts to manifest in our lives!

When divine life is built more and more, we will become more and more selfless. We are sincere in our speech and action. And we will love the truth more and more. Wisdom will easily enter and work in our lives. We grow increasingly mature by the day.

Learn to always set our minds and hearts according to His word. Keep grinding the word while imagining its fulfillment in our life. Do this until our heart is no longer empty, but stirred with enthusiasm.

If we persevere in grinding the word into our inner man, our love for His word will keep increasing. It’s just like a piece of iron being rubbed by magnet. If we keep rubbing them, the iron will start to have a magnetic field before finally becoming a magnet itself!

The same goes with our mind and heart! If we keep grinding them by the word, the nature of our mind and spirit will take the nature of the word itself! And by having the word, it will attract more and more word to come into our lives!

Matthew 13:12 (NASB) For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

4. Divine love will enable us to reject worldly desires and live this life as doers of God’s word

I find 2 differences in those who do God’s word:

In the first group is the ones who do the word out of fear. People who fear will tend to obey whatever being instructed to them. But once they no longer fear, they will start to disregard the commands being given. This means, the nature of sin hasn’t truly gone from them. If punishment is no more, they will become sinners again. For these people, their sinful nature is only covered momentarily by fear.

In the second group of people are those who are filled with divine love. They don’t do the word out of fear of being cursed or punished. They do the word because they’ve been delivered from fear! And now, they only have one desire in their heart; to make glad the God whom they love. These people are willing to die, to believe God even when it doesn’t make sense, and let go of everything to make Him happy!

1 John 4:18 (NASB) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
