This morning, Holy Spirit reminded me to stay focused on guarding the fervent condition of our spiritual man. Do not be distracted from it. I come to realize that the fervent condition of our spiritual man is actually very important. It will keep us in line with Kingdom’s agenda and keep living in the death of flesh. And it makes us only focused on God. Because we didn’t realize that our minds are ‘too busy’ thinking about natural things which make us doing a lots of activities without a fervent spiritual man. It looks like ‘serve God’ but actually we are not pleasing God’s heart.

Luke 10:38-42 (NKJV) Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

From the chapter above, Holy Spirit affirms: Don’t be like Martha who had ‘faulty thinking’. She thought by doing many things, she was ‘serving’ God. Be like Mary who was thirsty for His word and wanted to stay close with Jesus and she positioned herself as a servant. She wanted to hear the depths of the God’s heart. That is what made her spirit be satisfied (fervent).

It doesn’t mean that God doesn’t want us ‘to move to do something’. But He doesn’t want us to move without the word and without the fervent spirit. He doesn’t want us to be neglectful in fellowship with Him. Do not let us no longer be able to enjoy fellowship with God because of our activities. There must be time to sit and listen to the voice of God without any activities in our minds! This is the BEST SELF-DISCIPLINE we must have.

There are many people who prefer to ‘busy doing many things’ rather than sitting and listening to the voice of God. Because indeed it is “the pattern of the world, the faulty thinking, and the nature that must be changed”; Their minds are always ‘going everywhere’ when they linger in His presence. They can not focus! That is what Jesus dismantled from Martha’s life!

Be careful with the spirit of Marta. Focus on our spiritual man. Make sure we have a living fellowship with Him and meditate on the Word constantly. Because a fervent spiritual man is a “tool” for God to move through us and do great things!! #ILoveGod
