Deuteronomy 6:5 (Easy English Bible Version) Love the Lord your God with all of your mind and your thoughts. Make him the most important person in your lives. Think about him every day.
The verse above keeps speaking very strongly in my heart; it purifies and sanctifies my heart even more from any mold and filth of this world. Unconsciously our heart motivation could have changed because ‘we neglect to guard it’. We start to ‘make eyes at the pattern of this world’ so that it brings about various desires and needs other than God’s presence. You might feel just fine that man has their own desire or need besides God. It is reasonable for the old man (the descendants of Adam who fell into sin) but for us whom have been redeemed and have lived as new creations, it is not normal.
God and His Word is the only One who can satisfy our heart. It is only our need. If it is ‘not fulfilled’, our lives are shattered. But if His reality fills our heart, our lives will be whole and we are brought to always live in God’s world.
The problem is this world has molded us in such a way and has made us believe that we need clothing, food and housing to live a decent life on this earth. So inevitably we must chase for those needs in many kinds of ways. It slightly seems normal and that is the way man lives.
But after I dig the Word further and compare to God’s promise and the life pattern that God wants then I can say firmly that the life pattern that this world has offered is WRONG! God never designs us to fulfill our needs. No! Never! He has provided everything that we need so that we no longer need to look for it let alone toiling for it. No!
Just watch how God creates the heaven and earth and all that is in them, He firstly provides everything that man needs then He places them in the Garden of Eden. His pattern has never changed yesterday, now and forever. He has never changed the grand design that is proven in the book of Deuteronomy 6. He lived the life pattern that He had established and wanted Israel to live in it.
Deuteronomy 6: 10-12 (NKJV) “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full— then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Our part now is focus on the reality of His presence, love Him, and fill our heart with the work of the Spirit and the Word only. It will make us live in God’s world without struggle and lack. I came to understand that to overcome what the world believes (the world pattern) then there is no other way that we must believe and live the pattern that God has set. If not, we will continue to exist in this world system that makes us preoccupied with the great deal of needs, wants and struggles to fulfill our daily needs.
My prayer: Holy Spirit, help me only believe God’s pattern and reject the pattern of this world. I want God treats me according to the truth I believe. I want to experience the reality of Your Word on this earth. I do not want to live in this world system that is evil and full of lawlessness instead I want to live in the system of the kingdom of heaven in order to experience what God has set completely.
