Deuteronomy 6:5 (Easy English Bible Version) Love the Lord your God with all of your mind and your thoughts. Make him the most important person in your lives. Think about him every day
When I read again the verse above, the Holy Spirit corrects and redefines the meaning of ‘loving God’ in my life. I came to understand, it turns out that loving God has something to do with our mind and thought every day. The thing that we think the most until it ‘drains our energy and time’ is the thing that we truly love. The thought that crosses our mind the most is the thing that we truly love. The one that we prioritize is the one that we love the most.
The question is what thing do we often think the most with all our strength (draining energy and time) and we prioritize? Is it work? Money? Wife or husband? Or children?
In principle, if it is not God whom we think the most, it means there is ‘one’ and ‘another thing’ that we love more than Him. Thus, we need to open our heart, to confess and to repent before Him. If there have been various thoughts that draining our strength other than God’s presence, let us admit it. Therefore, the Holy Spirit can work to align our lives according to His Word. The loving-God heart will be blazed again. And He will give His Word to be our meditation and thought in each time.
Next question is can’t we think other thing? We can but we cannot do that more than we think of God. Even the book of Deuteronomy 6 strongly states that our children (our own blood and flesh) cannot be more than God whom we love. We have to make our children generation who love God.
Deuteronomy 6: 7 (NKJV) You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
What about daily needs (work)? This is the aspect that frequently drains our energy. This is precisely what we don’t need to think about (yet it not for the slackers). Because actually everything we need has been provided by God so we don’t even need to be busy to prepare it. Yes, that’s the truth! That is the result of a heart that loves God.
Deuteronomy 6: 10-11 (NKJV) “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full—
God actually wants to bring us struggle not about anything (both aspects of people or work). He just wants us to struggle or associate with His presence and His Word with all our heart, soul and thought! That’s all. The rest God will ‘think about it’ and provide it for us. He never creates us to struggle with other things. He just wants us to focus on Him and His plan – that’s all.
Again the next question is do we believe in the truth and the life pattern that God has offered to us as mentioned above? If we do, we will experience it! I want to believe!! And I find that God makes it as the truth in my life! That truth has given me the stature to change the fact that I am facing. I want to make sure to only love God! #ILoveGod
