This is the continuation of yesterday’s message

3. The reason God ‘demands’ us to such an extent to actively subdue the 7 nations is His choosing over us as His holy people, set apart from all nations to become His beloved people (Deut 7:6)!

Deuteronomy 7:6 (NASB) For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

We are the generation that God has set apart to be His beloved people! When Holy Spirit emphasized this, I felt a deep trembling and respect towards God. Because in His sovereignty, God favors and chooses me, and sets me apart to become His beloved people! Truly, my heart is overflowing with thanksgiving, and I want to make sure that I won’t play around with the grace that God has given!

4. However, don’t forget that God’s main reason to choose us as His beloved people is the COVENANT He has made with our spiritual parents

He chose us to become His beloved people because HE IS FAITHFUL WITH HIS PROMISE to our spiritual parent (Deut 7:7-9).

Deuteronomy 7:7-8 (MSG) God wasn’t attracted to you and didn’t choose you because you were big and important—the fact is, there was almost nothing to you. He did it out of sheer love, KEEPING THE PROMISE HE MADE TO YOUR ANCESTORS.

He is a God of covenant. Whatever He does in my life is done out of His faithfulness to the covenant He has made with my spiritual father. Holy Spirit strengthens me again to keep living in my covenant with my spiritual parent! I could truly see that all the work of the Word and Spirit I experienced (which makes me love Him and all-out in finishing His plan) was done out of His covenant with my spiritual parent! All the divine things in my life that is pleasing before God’s heart is a form of His faithfulness to my spiritual parent – it’s not because of me!

Having a heart that loves God, growing in the knowledge of God, having a heart that is fixed towards the truth, living by the Word, strength to face challenges, the reality of God’s faithfulness; I ‘enjoy’ all of them because of my spiritual parent’s existence.

However, Holy Spirit also reminded me about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The God of covenant doesn’t stop at one man. Because when as spiritual sons we start to build the same life like our spiritual parent, the same God of covenant will come and tie His covenant with us personally! The way He favors my spiritual parent, He will do the same in my life. I’m truly thankful!

I want to always make sure that I live in covenant with my spiritual parent by guarding the accuracy of my life as a son in the house. I truly desire to become a son of pride and encouragement for my spiritual parent.

5. The dimension of God’s justice still applies! Every of God’s choosing must be responded ACTIVELY; we must actively love Him and keep His commandments (Deut 7:9-11)!

I desire for God to keep using my life to fulfill His promises. I want to make sure that I keep pursuing Him aggressively, giving myself to be molded by His Word and Spirit, so I could truly become a ‘different’ person:

a. One who has dedicated his life for the interest of the kingdom. Truly dead to sin and alive only to God (Rom 6:11)!

b. One who has gone through various molding processes of the Word. One who perseveres in the Word. One who always position himself to be burned by the fire of His Spirit, and one who keeps rubbing the Word into his life.

I want to make sure that I appreciate His choosing over my life by living responsibly. I want to prepare myself so He could truly use me as a living witness who reveal His greatness and faithfulness!

Let it be done in Jesus name, amen! #iLoveGod
