1 Timothy 6:12 (TSI2 – Simplified Indonesian Translation) As those who persevere in training themselves for sports competitions, that’s how you fight hard so that you can keep full of faith in true doctrines. Strive to get the prize of victory according to God’s calling in you — that is an eternal life. Remember that you are not ashamed to admit your conviction in front of people.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NKJV) Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

2 Timothy 2:5 (NKJV) And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

1 Corinthians 14:4 (NKJV)He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

From the verses above, I found that Paul keeps framing the life of faith of believers that must be built as the way athletes do. That is Paul does and applies to Timothy, he builds his inner man in such a way and also trains or disciplines his body to always be associated with the work of Spirit and Word.

From these, I have a determination and new passion to build my inner man in such a way by praying in tongue. I hear carefully the tongues that I speak, I express earnestly the work of the Spirit that is in my heart. I pray until the rivers of living water burst profusely and the reality of His presence grips firmly. There is no other way, that is the only way for us to experience God’s reality to stay in my heart. So our lives can be functioned as a life-giving spirit in daily lives.

For too long believers waiting for the work of the Spirit and Word and becoming very passive. But from what Paul conveys, actually the progress of our faith is very much determined by our aggressiveness in building inner man. The more aggressive, then the more growth will be. The more we train ourselves earnestly (pray in tongue and declare the word) then we will become stronger and mighty in living daily lives. That is the only way.

This morning I’m determined to refocus on building my spiritual man in such a way. Because God wants to reveal Himself through my life (to build many people’s life). There is no alternative way, only one way! He who diligently keeps building his inner man in his life will experience how God brings them into a great breakthrough in their lives! #ILoveGod
