When we follow the Holy Spirit, sometimes He deliberately leads us to the wilderness (Matthew 4:1), and even walks through the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4). We often wonder, what did we do wrong so that we have to go through the wilderness and the valley of the shadow of death?
We did nothing wrong. Our obedience leads us to experience ‘death to self’. Just like Jesus obedience’s delivered Him to the cross! Just believe as Jesus stepped into ‘the way of death’ in obeying the Father, then the Father is responsible to raise Him from the death and to give Him a name above every name (Philippians 2:8-11). The same thing will happen to us as we continue to follow the Holy Spirit!
Isiah 35:5-10 (NET) Then blind eyes will open, deaf ears will hear. Then the lame will leap like a deer, the mute tongue will shout for joy; FOR WATER WILL BURST FORTH IN THE WILDERNESS, STREAMS IN THE ARID RIFT VALLEY. The dry soil will become a pool of water, the parched ground springs of water. Where jackals once lived and sprawled out, grass, reeds, and papyrus will grow. A thoroughfare will be there— it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it; it is reserved for those authorized to use it— fools will not stray into it. No lions will be there, no ferocious wild animals will be on it—they will not be found there. Those delivered from bondage will travel on it, those whom the Lord has ransomed will return that way. They will enter Zion with a happy shout. Unending joy will crown them, happiness and joy will overwhelm them; grief and suffering will disappear.
1. The Spirit brought Jesus to the wilderness to conquer Satan (Matthew 4:1-11).
Just like the Spirit brought Jesus to the wilderness to conquer Satan, the Spirit will also bring us to ‘our wilderness’ to destroy the work of the Satan (1 John 3:8 – this verse indeed refers to Jesus, but when the Father implants the Spirit of Christ in our lives (Rome 8:9), He can also use our lives to destroy all the works of Satan in the lives of those who interact with us).
The Bible says, when water burst forth in the wilderness (the living water in our lives overflows even when we are in wilderness), we will see breakthroughs and miracles! At that time, the blind eyes will open, the deaf ears will hear, the lame will leap like a dear, and the mute tongue will shout for joy! All the work of Satan in the lives of those who interact with us is destroyed!
2. Jesus obedience in following the Spirit has started a new chapter for mankind.
For wisdom of this world, the gospel is foolishness; but for us who are saved, the gospel is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18). For the world, Jesus’ death on the cross is foolishness, but in fact, it is what changed the history and future of mankind! Through His death, who always walk in obedience, man can be set free from Satan, sin and death! There is a new standard of living for those who want to believe! We can live free from Satan, sin and death!
The Bible prophesies there will be the Way of Holiness! A new standard of living that we can show in our daily lives, so many people will realize that despite all the instability and distress experienced by human at this end of time, God is still in control of everything and separates the lives of His chosen people! Our daily lives will be totally free from Satan, sin and death!
3. Through the obedience of the heroes of faith, many breakthroughs, victories and other supernatural events took place, as witnesses for the existing generation of mankind.
I believe those who live in obedience and follow the guidance of the Spirit will always have an everlasting joy, shout of victory and unending happiness that overflows in their daily lives. This is ‘contagious’ joy, happiness and victory!
In the midst of the world that filled with fear, unforeseeable future and financial crisis, the divine life in God’s chosen people will be an ‘antidote’ that can restore the lives of many people. Make sure we always have the overflowing divine life! Through our divine life, God will restore many people’s life to be normal, stable, and optimistic about their future.
I pray for all of you that God will use our lives to make a difference for the people on this earth. #ILoveGod
