In the effort of replacing the old spirit of our mind with divine logic, we will face various challenges and distractions. They come from all kinds of desires that rise as long as we haven’t fully set our mind to live for God alone. Because when someone lives for God alone, what is in their heart is only the desires of God’s heart, imparted through the work of the word & Spirit in their lives – the desires of God’s heart have become the desires of their heart!

The following are several desires we must beware of:

1. The desires of flesh (Rom 8:6-7, Gal 5:16-21)

2. The desires of the body (Rom 13:14)

This include all forms of addiction/bondage such as abnormal appetite, lust, smoking, coffee, watching movies, etc.

3. The desires of the ears (2 Tim 4:3)

This is usually experienced by those whose heart is not fully inclined towards the truth and whose identity is broken. As a result, they look for things they want to hear to please themselves, and not the truth that God wants them to hear.

4. Worldly desires (Titus 2:12)

5. Lust of the eyes (1 John 2:16)

6. Desires of sin (Jude 1:23)

7. The various lusts of one’s own heart

This is usually the desire to be rich/successful and to have fancy things (Jam 1:14-15, Mark 4:19). God wants us to learn to surrender our heart’s desires to Him (Phil 4:6). So in the end, what moves our life is no longer the lusts of our self, but the desires from His word.

All the inaccurate desires above will keep exploiting our mind which is yet to fully inherit the mind of Christ. They will keep speaking and influencing our decision-making. When we respond to the voice of those desires, the power of ‘will’ activates. So, although it is very difficult to realize the desires, from within, various ideas, plans, and even creativity will rise to realize them.

For example: When we are walking in a mall, we accidentally see a piece of cloth that really appeals to us. At that very moment, the ‘lust of the eyes’ works and starts to speak, planting a desire in our life. Usually, our imagination will work, imagining how nice the cloth will fit us. The lust of the eyes has successfully planted the desire in our life. Straight away, our mind starts to plan, look for ideas, and even birth creative things to overcome any barrier to have that cloth (e.g. the lack of funds).

Imagine if the area of desires in our life has been fully surrendered to God, to the point we have no other desire than making glad the heart of God! When the Father plants the desires of His heart in our life, things will happen automatically! Our determination will be built very strongly to realize that desire of the Father! It doesn’t matter how many barriers we must face, we use our mind and birth ideas and the creativity to realize that will of the Father!

Imagine, from our human nature, we could give birth to determination and the various potential to realize the desires of our heart. Imagine what could happen if the Father’s heart desire has become our desire! Moreover, Holy Spirit is always ready to help, guide and cooperate with us to realize the Father’s heart desires!

Wow! That’s the time when the reality of the Kingdom will become real through us, His believers!

So, live for Him alone and surrender the area of desires in your life to realize the will of His heart alone. #iLoveGod
