Philippians 4:6-8 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
1. Our inclination of heart will attract certain types of thoughts into our life
In a day, many thoughts surely cross our mind. And we will receive thoughts which pique our interest, and it will start to influence our ways of thinking. Usually, we will tend to think about it ‘deeper’. And because we keep thinking about it, its influence will also become bigger for our life.
Our emotion starts to change. Series of ideas and actions to take start to pop up, and when all of them peaks, the urge to manifest that ideas and thoughts into an action is born! Finally, something starts to happen.
Usually, those types of thoughts we take is related to the kind of inclination we have in our heart. For example, someone whose heart inclines towards food/culinary, will automatically have their minds filled with imaginations of their favorite food, delicious foods, or foods that are trending.
And this happens to those whose heart inclines toward inner conflict. When silent, their minds are playing a ‘movie’ of bad things that they’ve experienced. And that ‘movie’ is played over and over in their mind, making their heart more and more ailing.
Those who are attracted to impurity, whenever they see the opposite sex or sensual things, will tend to connect them to adultery. And when they daydream, they will play impure things over and over in their mind.
Those who are attracted to money and business will tend to always think about gain and loss, moreover if their business is geared towards making dollars!
And those who are addicted to political news? Every topic will be tied to the contest in the arena of politic. And whenever the chance arises, they will take out their opinion about politician A and B.
Those who are addicted to football will keep talking about it. And the list goes on.
We can recognize our heart’s inclination from the type of thoughts that approach us when we daydream. We can also recognize it from the topic of conversation we like (what attracts our heart the most).
I received its illustration like someone who is carving a wood. When the wood is notched and grazed in the same direction over and over, sooner or later, it will form certain strokes. The more it is grazed, the deeper the notch, and the clearer the strokes.
If we flow water on the wood, it will surely follow the strokes that have been etched. That’s our way of thinking. Whatever flows will be directed according to the inclination of our heart.
Other than ATTRACTING WHAT COMES into our heart and mind, inclination of heart also DIRECTS US TO THE THINGS WE’LL DO (our actions). Imagine if someone has a heart that is inclined on the truth; everything they desire is the truth alone! And thus, only the right things will come into their life, and their desire is fixed on doing what’s right alone! #ILoveGod
