In my personal fellowship with God, once in a while the Holy Spirit led me to do a more in-depth self-evaluation. I find there is nothing wrong if every day, especially before activities, we ask the Holy Spirit to adjust the inclination of our hearts to turn back to the truth. Because it may be because of situations, associations with people or various dimensions of the spirit, causing the direction of our hearts and minds to shift. So, when the Spirit investigates the mind, it is exposed to its true condition. That’s when we can immediately ‘repent’ and return to doing what is right.

There is nothing wrong with us doing a self-evaluation and remembering the various useless words we have said to others, then asking for forgiveness and His grace to cancel it. Because it could be because of these useless words, maybe when we are upset, we accidentally get cursed which eventually makes other people’s lives more damaged (Genesis 9:25).

On the other hand, we also need to ask for forgiveness and grace from God if there are useless words that others say to us. Maybe they are angry, resentful, and hate us for various reasons that sometimes we ourselves do not know. As long as the ‘curse’ spoken was unfounded, it would never happen. But that doesn’t mean that the ‘word’ is cancelled, but rather that we are waiting for the time when we are ‘inaccurate’, so that the devil’s accusation before God will be realized.

Matthew 12:36-37 (NKJV) But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it on the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

It is a mistake if we assume that judgment and condemnation will occur when we are ‘before God’, that is wrong! The truth is while we are still on earth it will happen. For what we sow in the spirit (words), that is what we will reap in the outer world! So, guard our hearts with all diligence and make sure for out of it spring the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

When every day we practice self-evaluation as in the above, then the atmosphere of our lives will be clean. This will make us a person who is fully connected to God. The Word will be easy for us to grasp and understand, thus making our hearts always joyful and ignited! That is what will make our daily lives stronger, healthier, and more stable. Amen.
