When I again reflect on the connectedness between the outpouring of the Spirit and the restoration aspect of all things, I find that one word is ringing in my mind: Connectedness.
• It takes an accurate connectedness between our existence as His church and the existence of the Father, the Source of the outpouring of the Spirit itself.
• There is a need for a healthy and ongoing connectedness between our existence as agents of change and the people we interact with.
As we focus on building the connectedness qualities we have, whatever heaven wants to pour out on us, we will easily receive. On the other hand, whatever we have received from God we will be able to flow or share with anyone with whom we interact and those who are willing to open up to receive what we have.
1. The act of heeding the Spirit’s direction and stepping in absolute obedience is the primary response we must show before God.
Pay attention to the actions or responses of the disciples when they heard Jesus’ statement before He was glorified by the Father.
Acts 1:4-5 (NKJV) And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Not everyone who hears the direction can immediately obey it! Out of the approximately five hundred people who heard the direction (1 Corinthians 15:3-6), only one hundred and twenty diligently followed the direction and ultimately experienced the promised outpouring of the Spirit (Acts 2:1-11).
Make sure on these days, we continue to pay attention to the direction the Spirit gives and begin to take action to obey it diligently! Continue to train yourself to diligently imagine the fulfillment of God’s Word or promises while speaking in tongues. When we receive a spiritual impression in our mind, declare that impression with the same intonation or dynamic as when speaking in tongues.
I believe, this action will make our connectedness level with the throne room increase drastically. There will be various dynamics of the Spirit that come into our lives and all of them will help equip or prepare our lives to become holders or bearers of the reality of His Spirit!
2. The act of emptying ourselves and continuing to pursue the fullness of His Spirit is one response that we must show before God.
Let’s look again at the attitude of the disciples. When Peter took a position to give direction to others while waiting for the fulfillment of the promise of the outpouring of the Spirit. At that moment, none of the disciples protested or told Peter to sit still because he had denied Jesus three times (Acts 1:15-26). Everyone respected the function and role of each because each individual wished to continue to empty themselves of all forms of humanity or other outward aspects. When each individual empties themselves, they are more and more ready to be filled with His divinity!
Experiencing the fullness of the Spirit that comes from the throne room does require preparation, and one of the most important preparations is to condition yourself to continue to empty yourself, just as Christ did.
Philippians 2:5-11 (NKJV) LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU WHICH WAS ALSO IN CHRIST JESUS, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, BUT MADE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. THEREFORE GOD ALSO HAS HIGHLY EXALTED HIM and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
