There are two things that the Holy Spirit emphasized in my heart: keep guarding the spirit that is hungry and thirsty of the truth, and keep doing the right thing. Those are the two things which will satisfy our heart. If our heart is content, every ‘opening’ for the enemy will be closed.
Matthew 5:6 (NKJV) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Matthew 5:6 (ERV) Great blessings belong to those who want to do right more than anything else. God will fully satisfy them.
Matthew 5:6 (Indonesian Simple Translation 2) Truly blessed by God are those who actively do what’s right more than eating and drinking, because they are the ones who will be satisfied by God.
Many people keep looking for inner satisfaction by pursuing/consuming/getting things that are external, human, and worldly. No wonder they become easily disappointed and fall into inner conflict. Because this world could never give us the true satisfaction indeed!
John 4:13 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,”
The source of this world’s problem are people whose HEART does not INCLINE to the truth (not thirsty of the truth), and doesn’t love the truth. Look at the case of the Samaritan woman; she has had many husbands! There is something wrong in her area of family! Then, Jesus came to her to deliver her by transforming her thinking concept, the direction of her heart’s inclination, and her lifestyle, so she could start pursuing things that are divine/eternal in nature. Jesus gave her a new conviction!
John 4:14 (NKJV) but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.
What Jesus said made the woman THIRSTY OF THE TRUTH!
John 4:15 (NKJV) The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”
When the woman is thirsty of the truth, her life could be transformed according to the truth. Holy Spirit could guide her to walk in the truth. She confessed her sin before Jesus, repented, and started to do what’s right. The woman ‘stepped out from her humanistic life’ and returned to the city of Samaria as someone who testifies about Jesus – something impossible for a ‘kept woman’ to do. But it became possible because her inclination of heart has changed!
This morning, I want to always make sure that my heart is always thirsty and hungry of the truth! Because that’s the start of doing what’s right. When I always make sure that I have truth to meditate and declare until my inner man is blazing (satisfied in my heart), then doing what’s right will no longer be a struggle. Everything will automatically take place in my life. And I no longer need to pursue after blessings, because I have become a blessed person (satisfied – thirsty and hungry of the truth and doing what’s right). Everything that this world offers, I could refuse easily in an instant, because my life has been filled (satisfied) with truth.
Being thirsty and hungry of the truth is the start of building an accurate life. When our heart is straight before the Lord, He will surely be with us. If God is with us, our life won’t be crooked (filled with problems), but is always victorious in all aspects! God Himself straightens our paths!
Psalms 18:24-26 (NKJV) Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight. With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful; with a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless; with the pure You will show Yourself pure; and with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.
