There is an example in the Bible, which will help us to see the impact of going all-out in declaring the word and pursuing God. It’s the story of the woman who had hemorrhage for 12 years. In the AMPC (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition) translation, it is written: “For she kept saying [she perseveringly spoke to herself], If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health” (Mark 5:28).
Reading the story in the full picture, we could capture certain understandings to be applied in our daily life:
1. For us who are physically ill – including for chronic, terminal and hopeless cases – there is hope!
The woman was afflicted for 12 years, but suddenly experienced healing. But it didn’t happen in an ‘instant’. She went through the process of speaking her faith of what God could do for her.
Remember that He is a sovereign King. Whatever we believe that He could do to us will surely happen (if they’re according to the truth). This is true even against the most impossible cases!
There is nothing impossible for Him! Our part is to persevere in speaking the word (what we believe God will do for us)! We must come to a point where we focus our mind and conviction that He is our only source of healing – no other alternative, and we won’t look for another! Then, if we actively speak the word, healing and divine health will surely become ours!
2. Keep speaking the word until we could ‘feel’ the work of the Word and Spirit that brings us alive (passionate/enthusiastic/full of vitality)
Physically, we might not be sick like the woman. However, we could be afflicted with frustration, disappointment and hopelessness. If that’s the case, the enemy’s work is dragging our lives down. This could happen due to our own inaccuracy, or because of the enemy’s deception which exploits the existing situation.
When we decide to speak the word in perseverance, Holy Spirit will connect us to the dimension of divine might. We will experience divine strength, hope, and authority being injected into us by the Holy Spirit. It will make us rise in Spirit power to become overcomers of problems and challenges – we win by the power of truth!
3. Keep pushing into the spirit; focus on seeing God, and focus on His word, until we could experience that God is real
The bleeding woman finally touched the garments of Jesus, but not without challenges. Many people surrounded Jesus. It’s not easy.
The same could happen to us who are under stress. It’s not easy to pray and focus on God. And the Devil will surely try everything to shift our focus towards the problem. If we become deceived, we will always assume that big problems and challenges need an equally big solution. But that’s not what the woman believed.
Her problem is quite severe; 12 years of hemorrhage. However, because she kept speaking the word, she could see the only way out; touching the robe of Jesus! That’s her only solution, and yes, it’s that simple and easy! She no longer focuses on the crowd which separated her from Jesus. Her focus is only towards Jesus, and she kept moving forward to touch Him.
The question is, do we want to believe the same thing that the woman believed? That our only way out is to experience God’s touch? If we believe in the same thing, we will stay focused in our prayer and worship (not in our problems). Until at one point, we will touch His reality, and He will touch us! When that happens, we could overcome all problems and challenges in Him who gives us strength!
4. Deciding to speak the word until we experience God’s reality will position us as an inspiration for others to reach their victory
We will become living testimonies and open letters to show that God is real and He is still working. Many people will follow the same footsteps to experience God’s touch! That’s what happened in the Bible. After the woman was healed for touching the garment of Jesus, many people followed and experienced the same healing!
Matthew 14:34-36 (NASB) When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent word into all that surrounding district and brought to Him all who were sick; and they implored Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were cured.
From where did they receive the same faith? Surely from the woman who was healed! Her life testimony spreads to many people, lifting them from their fall to walk and touch the garments of Jesus.
I believe, the same thing will happen to us when we want to persevere. Let’s always memorize, study, and speak the word. Stay focused and active in pursuing Him. Do this with all our heart, soul and strength.
God is building us as His temple among men. Whoever interacts with us will be able to hear and see that God is real and He is still working! Through us, they could receive healing from the God we worship (Rev 21)! #iLoveGod
