God keeps talking about the birth of an all-out generation – willing to die, to believe God even when it doesn’t make sense, and to let everything go for God and His plans. Since then, I keep praying and asking God to give concrete examples of such people from the New Testament.
Here are some examples of those who are all-out for God and for the fulfillment of His plans:
1. Jesus the Nazarene (Phil 2:2-8, Luk 23:34, John 5:19)
He is the manifestation of God’s divine pattern: an obedient son. He obeys the Father to the point of death at the cross. Jesus only speak what the Father speaks, and He only does what He saw from the Father. Jesus truly emptied Himself to make sure that those who believe in Him receive the reality of His word and promises.
From emptied lives, a distinct generation of believers will be born!
2. Zacchaeus (Luk 19:1-10)
For Zacchaeus, money is no longer everything. He has seen the glory of the Kingdom and the King Himself. Since then, something happened in his heart. He is willing to lose all the money he fraudulently amassed as long as he is included as a citizen of the Kingdom, and as long as he could have a life that pleases the King (Luk 19:8).
3. Paul (2 Cor 4:7-11, 11:22-28)
Paul has maximized the power of grace that worked in his life. He did so to such an extent that nothing could hold Paul back from finishing God’s will in his life. He has seen what Christ could (and will) do, and persevered in pursuing God’s divine standard until it is fully realized in his life. There is no single power of the Devil, man, or weaknesses that could held Paul back from realizing the Father’s will. Paul successfully reached the finish line full of glory because He is always all-out (willing to die, to believe God even when it doesn’t make sense, and to let everything go) for God and His plans (Acts20:24, 2 Tim 4:7, Phil 3:7-14).
Barnabas (Acts 1:23, 4:36-37, 11:22-26)
The Levite from Cyprus didn’t see his past ancestry – a descendant of the priests with all the privilege that goes with them – as his leverage in ministry. He is willing to go ‘behind the scenes’ as long as he could stay within God’s movement. He is also willing to sell his inherited land to fund the Spirit movement that is manifesting. Joseph is willing to become a ‘treasurer of heaven’. He is ready to fund every needs of the Kingdom to fulfill its plan and agenda.
5. Lydia (Acts 16:14-15, 40)
A merchant of purple fabrics from Thyatira. She facilitated the church planting in the city of Philippi. Lydia is thought to be the main supporter of Paul’s ministry and church planting in the city (although she is not written as a leader of the people). Lydia is one of the examples of ‘heaven’s treasurer’ manifesting within the congregation.
6. Epaphroditus (Phil 2:25-30)
He is one of the church members/ministers in Philippi who are willing to surrender himself to assist Paul’s ministry. He worked so hard to such an extent that he fell sick, even close to death, in doing his assignment.
Epaphroditus didn’t receive any profit. He even had to spend his personal time, energy, and funds to fulfill what’s lacking in Paul’s ministry to the people.
7. God’s church in Macedonia (2 Cor 8:1-5)
The Macedonians have learned to financially give more than their human capacity. Although in the flesh they are a group of ‘poor people’, but they are rich in generosity.
When we give, God doesn’t see the amount, but the sincerity and earnestness that goes with our offering (Mark 12:41-44). Compared to all that we have, how much could we give Him?
I pray for everyone who are reading this devotion. Let us be inspired to rise as an all-out people – willing to die, to believe God even when it doesn’t make sense, and to let everything go – for God and the fulfillment of His plans in these end times.
8. God’s church in Rome (Rom 1:8, 17; 8:31-39)
The Romans have learned to live from God’s word and faith to subdue all natural and negative facts. Imagine, they are facing the dangers of persecution and death every day because of what they believe. Regardless of all, they are still all-out in pursuing after God’s reality. They are able to declare that nothing could separate them from the love of God!
The persistence of faith of the Romans has been renown worldwide, and that’s just the start.
I believe God’s end-time church plays a vital role in the continuation of human civilization on earth. Let the testimonies of these Biblical heroes inspire us to walk more bravely and perseveringly in pursuing God’s reality and the fulfillment of His plans. #iLoveGod
