6. Building determination in our heart ASAP to always delight God’s heart will help us face the various challenges in the Babylonian system.
We need the mentality of a giant-killer to become overcomers in Babylon. Even when reading Jesus’ statement that we are sheep sent in the midst of wolves (Mat 10:16), we must ask for Holy Spirit’s revelation that the ‘sheep’ is not the weak creature we think of so far; the sheep has the ‘heart of a lion’!
In the Babylonian system, we will always face challenges; ‘the fiery furnace’ and ‘the lion’s den’ will always be there. That’s why every believer needs determination in their heart and the dimension of revelation about the sovereign God in their life!
Observe the statement of Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego when King Nebuchadnezzar forced them to worship his golden statue:
“O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” (Dan 3:16-18, NASB)
Read the heart attitude of Daniel when he heard about King Darius’ new law:
“Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now in his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem); and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously.” (Dan 6:10, NASB)
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were ready to face their ‘mandatory’ challenges in the Babylonian system. And those challenges are not ‘God’s trial’; they come from the enemy who is trying to stop the ‘footsteps’ of believers, and if possible, destroy them as soon as possible! But in God’s sovereignty, He overturns all evil plans of the enemy to work together for our good!
See what Nebuchadnezzar did to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego after they came out from the furnace:
“Nebuchadnezzar responded and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses reduced to a rubbish heap, inasmuch as there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way.” Then the king caused Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to prosper in the province of Babylon.” (Dan 3:28-30, NASB)
Read as well about what Darius did after Daniel was taken up from the lions’ den:
“Then Darius the king wrote to all the peoples, nations and men of every language who were living in all the land: “May your peace abound! I make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom men are to fear and tremble before the God of Daniel; For He is the living God and enduring forever, And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed, And His dominion will be forever. “He delivers and rescues and performs signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has also delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.” So this Daniel enjoyed success in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.” (Dan 6:25-28, NASB)
When God allows challenges to come when we function as His witnesses in the Babylonian system, that’s the moment His light and glory will shine even brighter and become more visible, lightening even the deepest and darkest crevices in the Babylonian system!
Allow God’s hand to keep building the mentality of an overcomer in our hearts, and rise up in the power of the Spirit to become overcomers in the system of Babylon! #ILoveGod
