Genesis 41:15-16 (NKJVAnd Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.” So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”

Daniel 2:27-28 (NKJV)  Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, “The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these

From Joseph’s and Daniel’s story above, we can find the following word principles:

1. Joseph and Daniel no longer raise their name or self, but God’s existence as the source of solution for the king’s problem.

When Joseph used Pharaoh’s cupbearer (his cellmate) as a ‘ticket’ to leave prison, God simply made the cupbearer forget about Joseph (Gen 40:12-23). Only after Joseph went through the process of ‘emptying himself’ for 2 more years, God moved and gave Pharaoh a dream which could only be interpreted by Joseph!

From God’s side, He could simply promote anyone – it’s too easy for Him! Even in one night, God could change an outcast, fugitive, and prisoner, into a ruler of an empire. So why don’t God simply promote believers into powerful positions? God’s ‘problem’ so far is believers’ lack of willingness to truly empty themselves.

Observe what Daniel said when Nebuchadnezzar enquired if it’s truly Daniel HIMSELF who could tell and interpret his dream. Daniel replied, “But there is a God in heaven…”

When Joseph was asked the same by Pharaoh, Joseph answered, “It is not in me; God will…”

Only when we have emptied ourselves will God bring us to face and interact with the rulers of our age! As believers, we could meet the rulers of nations and become a source of solution for the problems they face. But we can only do so through the process of ‘emptying ourselves’.

2. Any remaining Self in our lives can be exploited by the rulers of this world to ‘subdue’ us.

God’s plan for each believer is for them to go through the process of completely emptying themselves. Therefore, when the ‘rulers of this world’ come to test and winnow us, they couldn’t find anything to use against us (John 14:30). The problem is, many of God’s people avoid this process of emptying themselves. As a result, when they entered the Babylonian system, they have so many openings – it is very easy for the enemy to stop their footsteps, or even destroy them!

Thus far, I’ve seen so many servants of God who is ‘taken down’ by the enemy during the peak of their success or ministry. When they fall, they’ll automatically drag everyone under their leadership together with them! So many believers are wounded and traumatized, and even lose hope and become frustrated in their journey with the Lord, because the leader they respect so far has fallen. And the reason for the fall is none other than the Self of the servant of God which hasn’t been completely dealt with in God – they miss (not going through completely) God’s process of emptying themselves.

The inclination to be ‘promoted quickly’ has conditioned many servants of God to utilize ‘all means’ – including humanistic and worldly ways – to be promoted in their work or ministry.

Any remaining Self in those who aspire to enter and subdue the Babylonian system will become a boomerang for their own life and ministry. Make sure that the hand of God is the only thing that lifts you up in Babylon! Stay abiding in Him and in His divine plan, so the same hands that lifted you up could also guard you to stay on top! #ILoveGod
