“Prayer is believers’ breath of life.” We often hear that statement from previous generations who truly experienced the power of prayer. They faced everything with prayers. And they didn’t take any other alternative ways!
It’s no wonder that in their generation, many miracles took place, showing that God is real and He is still working. Of course, this shouldn’t stop in their generation. Because the same God never stops working; He wants to reveal His sovereign power in our generation as well.
However, believers’ common problem is that they only pray during certain times; when they face problems, struggles, or spiritual warfare. Meanwhile, during times of peace, they ignored prayer. Even if they pray, it is only during Sunday service or prayer meetings.
The point is, many people “are not breathing” (not praying) during times of peace. That’s the actual cause of many unnecessary struggles, problems, and life sorrows that could be avoided if we want to “breathe” (pray) at all times!
The verses below emphasize the importance of praying at all times as believers:
Mark 1:35 (NASB) In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.
Mark 14:32 (NASB) They came to a place named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here until I have prayed.”
The verses personally emphasize to me: Jesus Himself prays in every situation, how could we not?
Jesus has given an extraordinary example. As a Son of God who came down to earth as a human, He still prays. How important is it to PRAY!? Without prayers, we couldn’t connect to see and hear what our heavenly Father wants to do on earth. It means, our lives become useless for the agenda of the Kingdom!
Ephesians 6:18 (NASB) With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints
Romans 8:5 (ERV) People who live following their sinful selves think only about what they want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about what the Spirit wants them to do.
Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us
From the verses above, I found the essence and concrete application of the sentence “prayer is believers’ breath of life.” It turns out, whatever we think about is our prayer, and in reverse, our prayers are the same as our thoughts.
Therefore, dwelling on the things of the Spirit becomes crucial. Because that’s our prayers which will change everything in the spirit world. That’s our prayers which will change all the negative facts in the natural! Remember, everything that happens in this natural world starts with what happens in the spirit world!
So, there is no other alternative. If we want to live a victorious life, we must keep building our prayer life! Learn to be disciplined in setting aside time to pray like Jesus. Always pray by dwelling on the word, the things of the Spirit, and by declaring them!
If we do that consistently, our life will experience the work of the Word & Spirit connecting us to God’s ETERNAL plan. As a result, our daily life will express the reality and the fulfillment of His word. We become witnesses that God is real and He is still working! #iLoveGod
