Evidently, harboring grudge in our heart is very destructive. It has a highly negative impact in our attempt to build corporate life. Our personal flow of life becomes disrupted, and it affects the flow of life in the spiritual house. Sooner or later, the corporate flow of life will be disrupted as well.
Self which is not truly ‘dead’ yet – people who haven’t ‘emptied themselves’ – is the cause of frictions within the house. Although these people are already in the movement, they still harbor grudge against one another.
Philippians 2:5-7 (NASB) Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, BUT EMPTIED HIMSELF, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
Truly, when someone receives Jesus as their personal Savior, the Father plants the same divine seed like what He had planted in Jesus: a heart that is sincere, selfless, and full of love. Automatically, the person will manifest the life of Jesus when He was on earth. The problem is, believers are often ‘incapable’ (careless) in guarding that divine seed. Their life becomes contaminated again, resulting in mixture. As a result, ‘Self’ always have the opportunity to show itself.
Believers who once again manifest Self in their daily life will have the following characteristics:
1. They pursue/prioritize their personal interest – they put off or even remove the interest of the kingdom, their spiritual house, and the interest of others
This is the importance for fellow believers (brothers in the same spiritual house) to pray for one another. I believe that the power of prayer still works, especially between brothers in the same spiritual house!
Matthew 18:19-20 (NASB) “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”
2. They strive for human recognition and vain praises
When we enter the world of ministry, all that we do is only to make glad the heart of God. We do all kinds of activities in ministry because we love Him. Initially, we don’t have the space in our heart to look for praises and recognition from others. Our only satisfaction is when we receive Holy Spirit’s testimony that the Father approves of what we do.
However, our heart could gradually turn away towards recognition and praises of men. Usually, this is caused by our level of love towards God which starts to ‘decline’. This is often caused by our weakening personal fellowship with God (due to physical or mental exhaustion that we don’t deal with quickly). So, learn to maintain our balance in ministry. Don’t drown in the world of ministry until we don’t have time to minister God personally through our worship, exaltation and word meditation.
3. They feel that they are more important, more being used by God, more anointed, etc (more than others)
When ‘Self’ has risen in a minister’s life, it will give space for the spirit of competition (the unhealthy one) to enter God’s house. This is the cause of conflict which destroys the unity in a spiritual house. This is the ‘ancient Devil’ who possessed Jesus’ disciples; even in the last minutes before Jesus was captured, they are busy debating about who is the greatest among them (Luke 22:24).
I believe, it’s time for each one of us as bodily members of a spiritual house to truly merge as one. And let us manifest the ministry of the Body of Christ! #iLoveGod
